Description
The black obsidian arrowhead pendant, a shape inherited from a craft thousands of years old, the arrowhead, chipped by percussion, was one of the very first uses of obsidian, long before it became a jewel. This pendant takes up that exact silhouette: a tapered, symmetrical blade with clean edges. Handmade with natural stones, it carries the memory of the tool rather than the memory of ornament.
Before adorning a wrist or a neck, obsidian was used to cut. Its conchoidal fracture, that hollow break unique to volcanic glass, produces edges finer than steel when the stone is worked by percussion, a technique known as flintknapping. Mesoamerican peoples drew blades, arrowheads and ceremonial knives from it, feared for how sharp they were.
This pendant takes up that pointed silhouette, without keeping its real edge: the shape is reproduced and polished to be worn safely, but the line stays true to that of a tool, tapered, symmetrical, nothing superfluous. It’s a shape that tells a function, not a decoration.
Black obsidian keeps, in crystal healing, its properties of protection and grounding, associated with the root chakra. The arrowhead shape adds a further dimension: in many traditions, the arrow symbolises direction and determination, a target you aim for and never lose sight of. Worn point-down, the pendant still carries that energy of taut trajectory.

Handcrafted by Camille
Every pendant is assembled by hand in my workshop, in France. The arrowhead demands strict symmetry on both sides of the central axis, the slightest deviation shows immediately on such a geometric shape. I then polish every edge so it stays crisp to the eye but smooth to the touch, never sharp.

Care: a soft cloth is all it takes; avoid salt, knocks and prolonged water, and take it off before showering or exercising, the edges of the point are the area most sensitive to impact. All my tips are in the cleaning guide.
