Description

The Pixiu black obsidian bracelet, the Feng Shui protector creature set on the most grounding stone there is, the Pixiu, that small winged dragon from Chinese mythology with no anus, said to swallow fortune and never let it go. Paired with black obsidian, it becomes a dual-purpose piece: protecting and attracting. Handcrafted from natural stones, this is the one you wear to feel supported every day.

The Pixiu (貔貅) is a mythological Chinese creature, half-lion half-dragon, with wings and a single horn. Legend says it swallowed so much celestial treasure that the gods, angered, sealed its anus shut, since then, everything it consumes stays inside it forever. That quirk is what made it, in Chinese tradition, the absolute symbol of wealth that never escapes.

Paired with black obsidian, the Pixiu takes on an added dimension. Where the stone acts as a protective barrier against negative energy and loss, the Pixiu adds its own function of attraction, it’s traditionally placed or worn to capture luck and preserve it. Together, the pair forms a bracelet that is both defensive and active: one keeps out what does harm, the other holds onto what enriches.

In Feng Shui, a few customs traditionally accompany wearing the Pixiu: it’s worn on the left wrist (the one that “receives”), with its head turned outward, and it’s best not shown or touched by other people, so as not to “distract” its vigilance. These are just folk traditions, follow them or not as you see fit.

Camille, founder of Bijoux Obsidienne, crafting a Pixiu obsidian bracelet in her workshop in France

Handcrafted by Camille

Every bracelet is assembled by hand in my workshop, in France. The Pixiu figurine calls for special care when stringing: I make sure to position it so it stays properly oriented, head facing outward, as tradition calls for, a detail many of my customers specifically ask about.

I discovered the Pixiu while researching the Feng Shui traditions tied to obsidian, and I immediately loved the idea of a piece with two functions: a stone that protects, a figurine that attracts. It’s a bracelet I happily gift, or recommend to mark a fresh start, a move, a new project, a new year. Discover the story of the workshop.

“The Pixiu is a creature that never lets go of anything. Paired with obsidian, which protects in the same way, I found the two complemented each other perfectly.”, Camille

Care: a soft cloth is all it takes; avoid salt, knocks and prolonged water, and take it off before showering or working out. All my care tips are in the cleaning guide.

Here are the correspondences linked to the Pixiu and obsidian in Feng Shui — they come from traditions and beliefs, and should be taken as such.

The Pixiu (貔貅)

A mythological Chinese creature — half-lion, half-dragon, winged, said to swallow fortune and never let it go.

The traditional symbol of wealth that stays.

Left Wrist

The receiving side — in Feng Shui, the left wrist is traditionally associated with receiving energy and luck.

That's where the Pixiu is worn, head facing outward.

Protection & Grounding

Black obsidian acts as a barrier against negative energy and loss.

Paired with the Pixiu, it's said to secure what the Pixiu attracts.

Fresh Starts

The Pixiu is traditionally gifted or worn to mark a new project, a move, or a career change — a symbol of momentum, protected.

A reminder: these correspondences belong to Feng Shui and crystal healing, wellness approaches based on traditions and beliefs. They are not medical or financial claims and never replace the advice of a professional.

Caring for your obsidian

To keep your piece looking its best, a soft cloth is usually all you need. Avoid salt, harsh products and knocks, and take it off before showering, swimming or working out.

In crystal practice, many people also like to cleanse and recharge their stone from time to time, with smoke, under moonlight, or on a cluster of quartz.

Handmade jewelry, made in France

Every piece is handcrafted in my workshop from natural stones chosen one by one. No mass production: small batches, and plenty of one-of-a-kind pieces.
