Description

The snowflake obsidian bracelet, the stone of gentle change, black lava cooled in an instant, inside which white crystals still found the time to bloom. Every bead carries its own constellation, unique, impossible to reproduce. Handcrafted from natural stones, this is the one you wear to move forward without rushing yourself.

Snowflake obsidian is a black obsidian in which clusters of cristobalite have formed, a white mineral that slowly crystallizes inside the volcanic glass. Those pale flecks are not flaws: they are the trace of a slow transformation, over thousands of years, inside a stone everyone assumed was frozen for good. Which is exactly the story this stone tells.

Where black obsidian acts as an uncompromising mirror, the snowflake variety softens that intensity. The white tempers the black, the light balances the shadow. It is often described as the “gentlest” obsidian, the one recommended to anyone who finds pure black obsidian intimidating, or to anyone going through a period of change without wanting to turn everything upside down at once.

In crystal healing, the flecked obsidian bracelet is associated with breaking out of repeating patterns: those habits we know no longer serve us, but keep repeating out of sheer reflex. It is said to help you recognize them with kindness rather than harshness. Grounded in the root chakra, it brings the stability you need to change without losing your footing. Unisex and graphic, it is worn every day as a quiet reminder: black and white live in the same stone, and that is exactly as it should be.

Camille, founder of Bijoux Obsidienne, crafting a snowflake obsidian bracelet in her workshop in France

Handcrafted by Camille

Every bracelet is assembled by hand in my workshop, in France. With snowflake obsidian, stringing takes longer than with a plain obsidian: I place the beads one by one so the white patterns spread evenly all around the wrist, with no area too crowded and no area too bare. It is as much composition work as it is assembly.

This is the stone I recommend most often to anyone hesitating in front of black obsidian. It has the same depth, but it shows it differently, with light inside. And then there is a very simple pleasure to it: no snowflake bracelet ever looks like the one before, so I never make the same one twice. “The white snowflakes take thousands of years to appear inside the stone. That puts things in perspective when you get impatient about not changing fast enough.”, Camille

Care: a soft cloth is all it takes; avoid salt, knocks and prolonged water, and take it off before showering or working out. All my advice is in the care guide.

Here are the correspondences associated with snowflake obsidian in crystal healing — they come from traditions and beliefs, and should be taken as such.

The Snowflakes

Cristobalite — a white mineral that slowly crystallizes inside the volcanic glass, long after the lava has cooled.

Every pattern is unique and impossible to reproduce: no two beads ever carry the same constellation.

Shadow & Light

Balance made visible — black and white live together in the same stone, without either one erasing the other.

That is the traditional reading of snowflake obsidian: accepting your darker areas without fighting them, as a condition of balance rather than a flaw.

Root Chakra

Muladhara — the chakra of grounding and safety.

Snowflake obsidian works there more gently than pure black obsidian: it stabilizes without confronting, which makes it the variety recommended for beginners.

Gentle Change

Crystal healing tradition links it to breaking out of repeating patterns — those habits we repeat out of sheer reflex. Not by shattering them all at once, but by learning to recognize them with kindness.

A reminder: these correspondences belong to crystal healing, a wellness approach based on traditions and beliefs. They are not medical claims and never replace the advice of a healthcare professional.

Caring for your obsidian

To keep your piece looking its best, a soft cloth is usually all you need. Avoid salt, harsh products and knocks, and take it off before showering, swimming or working out.

In crystal practice, many people also like to cleanse and recharge their stone from time to time, with smoke, under moonlight, or on a cluster of quartz.

Handmade jewelry, made in France
