There’s a quiet idea behind this ring: gold answering gold. The stone carries a golden veil that surfaces as it turns; the plated band picks that warmth up and holds it. Worn together, the two don’t compete, the metal simply gives the sheen somewhere to land. It’s the most understated way I know of wearing gold.
Gold sheen obsidian owes that shimmer to a natural optical effect: microscopic gas bubbles and fine inclusions, aligned in layers as the lava cooled, diffract the light and send back the characteristic golden glow. On a ring, where the stone is constantly in motion, the effect really comes alive, the sheen appears, slides across the surface and disappears again with every gesture of your hand. In crystal healing, gold sheen obsidian shares the protective qualities of its black cousin while adding something more radiant and solar. Every ring is put together by hand in my workshop, in France. Gold sheen is the variety that takes me longest to choose, because the sheen only shows at certain angles, I turn each stone under the lamp until I’m sure the glow is really there and really bright, not just a hint of it. Then the band goes on precisely, so the ring arriving at your door is comfortable and made to last.
Rings are my favourite pieces to make, because they live on balance: enough detail to be beautiful, enough restraint to be worn every day. A ring sits on the hand, in view at every moment, it has to be right. Read the story of the workshop.

Care: a soft cloth is all it takes for both the stone and the band. Gold plating doesn’t rust, but it does wear with time, take the ring off before exercising or showering to keep it looking its best. All my tips are in the care guide.
