Description
The black obsidian necklace, the protection stone worn at the centre, not on the wrist where it’s seen, but on the chest, at heart level, often under your clothes. Obsidian is volcanic glass, born from lava that cooled too fast to crystallise. Handcrafted from natural stones, this is the one you wear for yourself, more than to be seen.
A black obsidian necklace isn’t worn like a bracelet. A bracelet is on display, it’s part of your outfit, people notice it when they shake your hand. A necklace, on the other hand, rests in the hollow of the sternum, the exact spot where you physically feel tension, that tight sensation when a day gets heavy. That’s what makes this format different: the stone sits right where the body absorbs it.
Obsidian is a volcanic rock with no crystal structure. The magma cooled so fast that no crystal ever had time to form, the result is a naturally dense black glass, with a smooth fracture and a deep shine. This is the material Mesoamerican civilisations polished into mirrors, and which has since become the most common protection stone in crystal healing.
In crystal healing, black obsidian is associated with the root chakra and grounding. Worn as a necklace rather than a bracelet, tradition credits it with acting closer to the emotional centre: shielding against what comes from outside, but also holding steady against what rises from within. Many wear it under a shirt or jumper, without anyone knowing, a piece of jewellery with nothing to prove.

Handcrafted by Camille
Every necklace is assembled by hand in my workshop, in France. On a necklace, everything hinges on how the pendant is attached: if it’s not positioned right, the stone twists and sits crooked as soon as you move. I adjust each attachment so the pendant always falls flat, front facing out, invisible in a photo, but the difference between a piece you keep on and one you’re readjusting all day.
I wear the bracelet when I want people to see it, and the necklace when I don’t want to show it to anyone. Same meaning, different gesture. The necklace stays under my jumper, against the skin, and that’s what I love about it: it speaks only to the person wearing it.
