The difference from a unisex necklace comes down to precise details, but they change the whole look: a finer chain, a smaller, more refined pendant, often cut as a teardrop or facet rather than a round stone. The idea isn’t to shrink the stone, but to fold it into a lighter jewellery vocabulary, the kind of chains you stack, the pendants you pair.
Black obsidian keeps all its density and its own shine here, whatever the size. It’s a volcanic rock, a natural glass born from cooling too fast to crystallise, its deep colour and its ability to catch the light don’t depend on the pendant’s size. A small, well-cut obsidian pendant draws the eye as much as a large raw stone, just differently.
In crystal healing, black obsidian is associated with the root chakra and grounding. Tradition doesn’t credit a small stone with less effect than a large one, what matters, in this approach, is how regularly it’s worn, not the amount of material. Handcrafted by Camille
Every necklace is assembled by hand in my workshop, in France. On this piece, I select smaller stones that are more finely worked, a facet that catches the light makes up for the smaller size. It’s a different exercise from my larger pieces: less material, but more demand on the cut.
