Description
The Cross black obsidian necklace, a simple shape cut from a stone that never quite is, the cross, one of the oldest and most universal symbols, shaped in obsidian rather than metal. No flourish, just two lines crossing in a dense, dark stone. Handcrafted from natural stones, this is the one you wear as much for its restraint as for its meaning.
The cross is one of the oldest shapes ever made by human hands, long before it was tied to any specific religion, two crossing lines, a central point, four directions. It’s a symbol found across cultures with no connection to each other, often linked to protection, to balance between the elements, or simply to a fixed point amid disorder.
Cut from black obsidian rather than cast in metal, the cross shifts register. It loses its shiny, ceremonial look and gains a more raw, mineral texture, a volcanic stone, born from lava cooled too fast to crystallize, shaped into a form everyone recognizes, but few wear in this material.
In crystal healing, black obsidian keeps its traditional properties of protection and grounding. Paired with the cross, it forms a deliberately understated piece, with no other ornament, worn as easily day to day as in a dressier context, a piece that moves through styles without ever going out of fashion.

Handcrafted by Camille
Every necklace is assembled by hand in my workshop, in France. The cross is a simple shape on the surface, but it leaves no room for approximation: the proportions between the vertical and horizontal bars have to be right, or the shape loses its visual balance. I cut every piece keeping that proportion in mind.
It’s a pendant I love for its restraint, it needs no argument beyond its shape and its material. Many of my customers choose it for exactly that: a piece that never tries too hard. Discover the story of the workshop, or my whole obsidian necklace collection.
“A cross doesn’t need to be gold to mean something. In obsidian, it becomes almost more sincere, raw, with no artifice.”, Camille
Care: a soft cloth is all it takes; avoid salt, knocks and prolonged water, and take it off before showering or working out. All my care tips are in the cleaning guide.
