Description
The snowflake obsidian pendant, a fragment of stone where every pattern is irreplaceable, black lava cooled abruptly, in which white crystals had time to bloom. On a pendant, this uniqueness takes on its full meaning: it’s the one truly one-of-a-kind stone you wear, and it looks like no other. Handmade with natural stones, it’s the one you choose for what can never be repeated.
Snowflake obsidian is a black obsidian in which clusters of cristobalite have formed, a white mineral that crystallises slowly inside the volcanic glass, long after the lava has cooled. These pale spots aren’t impurities: they’re the trace of a slow transformation, inside a stone that seemed frozen in time.
On a strand of beads, this pattern repeats itself in miniature, spread across twenty stones. In a pendant, a single stone carries the whole design, and that’s exactly what makes this format special: the pattern reads at a glance, in full, without having to search for it among others. No two people will ever wear exactly the same pendant, since no two stones ever share the same arrangement of flakes.
Where black obsidian acts as an unforgiving mirror, the snowflake variety softens its intensity. White comes to temper the black, light comes to balance the shadow. In crystal healing, it’s associated with breaking free of repetitive patterns, the habits we know no longer serve us, yet keep on autopilot. It’s often described as the “gentlest” obsidian, the one that accompanies change without forcing it.

Handcrafted by Camille
Every pendant is assembled by hand in my workshop, in France. For a pendant, I select the stone for the balance of its pattern: the snowflake has to stay legible at its centre, neither crushed against one edge nor scattered into fine dust. It’s a longer sorting process than for a bracelet bead, because here a single stone has to carry the entire piece.
