A pendant means closeness to the heart, and to the emotions. Black obsidian, long regarded as a stone of protection, has a particular part to play there: it’s said to help you stay clear and emotionally centred, without letting the turbulence of a day scatter you. Worn over the solar plexus and the heart, it makes an intimate, discreet connection with the person wearing it.
The shape is stripped back, no flourishes, just the stone itself, raw and honest, on a simple cord. That plainness is deliberate. Obsidian doesn’t need ornament: its depth and its natural smoothness are enough on their own. And this is a piece that gets better with time, with wear, with handling.

The proportions were chosen with a finer neckline in mind, the length of the cord, the scale of the stone, all judged to sit well and to draw the eye along the neck rather than weigh on it. It works as easily with everyday clothes as with something more dressed up, and adds a note of natural refinement without ever tipping into too much.

Every pendant is put together by hand in my workshop, in France. I choose the black obsidian one stone at a time, I’m after that particular smoothness, the deep black that catches the light, and I fit the cord carefully, so the piece arriving at your door is genuinely special.
This pendant is one of my favourites to make, because it lets me work with restraint. No ornament, just the stone and the confidence it gives. Care: a soft cloth is all it takes for the stone; the nylon cord needs no special attention, but avoid soaking it. Take the pendant off before exercising or showering to make it last. All my tips are in the care guide.
