Description

Black obsidian, worn close to the heart, this black obsidian pendant is all about clean lines and restraint. Shaped by hand from a natural stone, it’s the one to wear to keep a point of grounding and clarity, with the quiet elegance of objects that end up staying with you.

A pendant is above all a closeness to the heart and to feeling. Black obsidian, known as a stone of protection, plays a particular part there: it’s said to help you stay clear and emotionally centred, without being pulled about by the turbulence of the everyday. Worn near the solar plexus and the heart, it creates an intimate, discreet connection with whoever wears it.
The shape is pared back, no flourishes, just the stone itself, raw and honest, simply strung on a nylon cord. That restraint is deliberate. Obsidian doesn’t need ornament: its depth and natural smoothness are enough. It’s a piece that gets better with time, with every glance and every touch.
In crystal healing, black obsidian is known as the stone of grounding and truth. Worn through change, doubt, or simply full days, it’s meant as a reminder: you’re grounded, you can see clearly, you’re solid enough to keep going. It’s never a magic promise, just a small daily companion, a quiet one. To go further, see my complete obsidian guide or my article on obsidian and protection.
The proportions are designed with a fine neckline in mind, the cord length and the size of the stone are judged to sit elegantly, catching the light along the collarbone without ever being too much. It works as easily with everyday clothes as with something more dressed up, adding a note of natural refinement.

Handmade by Camille

Every pendant is put together by hand in my studio, in France. I choose the black obsidian stones one at a time, looking for that particular smoothness, that deep black that catches the light, and fit the cord carefully, so that the piece arriving at your door is genuinely its own.
This pendant is one of my favourites to make, because it lets me work with restraint. No ornament, just the stone and the confidence it carries. I like the idea that whoever wears it makes it theirs, that they rediscover it each morning, feel it against their heart, and it becomes part of them. You can read the story of the studio here.

“A pendant is a secret between you and yourself. Nobody else needs to know you’re wearing a stone of protection, that’s the point of it.”, Camille

Care: a soft cloth is enough for the stone; the nylon cord needs nothing in particular. Take the pendant off before exercising or showering to make it last. All my tips are in the care guide.

Here are the correspondences traditionally associated with black obsidian in crystal healing — they come from tradition and belief, and are best taken as such.

Root chakra

Muladhara — the chakra of grounding, safety and stability.

Black obsidian is said to work this chakra deeply, creating a steady foundation for everything else to rest on — something people often turn to through periods of real change.

Heart chakra

Anahata — the centre of feeling and compassion.

Worn as a pendant close to the heart, obsidian is said to help protect your emotional space — inner clarity, and some discernment in relationships.

Star signs

Scorpio — for its depth and intuition.

Capricorn — for the balance between strength and softness.

Aquarius — for its spiritual independence.

Symbolism

A stone of emotional clarity and self-reliance. Black obsidian is said to remind you of your own solidity — no noise, no show, just a calm and grounded presence.

A reminder: these correspondences come from crystal healing, a wellbeing practice grounded in tradition and belief. They are not health claims — this pendant treats, cures and prevents nothing — and they never replace the advice of a health professional.

Caring for your obsidian

To keep your piece looking its best, a soft cloth is usually all you need. Avoid salt, harsh products and knocks, and take it off before the shower, the beach, the pool or the gym.

In crystal healing, many people also like to cleanse and charge their stone from time to time, with smoke, under moonlight, or on a quartz cluster.

Handmade jewellery, made in France

Every piece is handcrafted in my studio from natural stones chosen one by one. No mass production: small batches, and plenty of one-of-a-kind pieces.
