Description

Deep black shot through with reddish and brown tones, the mahogany obsidian bracelet is made from a warmer, more earthbound stone. Shaped by hand with natural stones, it sits on the wrist like a small grounding warmth, ideal for the moments when you’re looking for deep stability and comfort.

Mahogany obsidian owes its red and brown tones to a higher concentration of iron oxides in the volcanic glass. That gives it a warmer, more “earthy” appearance than classic black obsidian. In the light it can reveal subtle golden or reddish glimmers, depending on the angle. It’s a less familiar variety than its cousins (black, gold sheen, rainbow), but for anyone discovering it, it’s often love at first sight, something in that colouring makes it deeply soothing. To understand this family of stones better, see my complete guide to obsidian, or my article devoted to mahogany obsidian.
In crystal healing, mahogany obsidian is said to be the most comforting and rooting of the family. Where black obsidian creates a protective barrier, mahogany obsidian soothes, it’s described as a stone that warms you from within and helps you feel safe in your own body. Linked to the root chakra, it is associated with deep grounding, with trust in the earth itself. It’s often suggested for anyone feeling scattered or cut off from the ground, it brings them gently back to a sense of warm stability.
Unisex and calming, this bracelet slips onto a woman’s wrist as readily as a man’s. Its elastic thread means there’s no clasp to fasten: it goes on easily and sits comfortably at your wrist size. Wear it on its own for that comforting quality, or stacked with other natural stone bracelets, hematite, tiger’s eye or red jasper make good companions for deepening the grounding. Day to day, it accompanies quiet moments of re-centring and invites you back to calm and inner steadiness.

Shaped by hand by Camille

Every bracelet is put together by hand in my workshop, in France. I choose the mahogany obsidian beads one by one, looking for the ones whose reddish tone is most pronounced, and I check every finish, so that the piece arriving at your door is genuinely grounding and soothing.
Mahogany obsidian is my favourite variety for the harder days. When I’m wearing one, I simply feel more present, more rooted. It’s less spectacular than the rainbow or the gold sheen varieties, but it’s deeply effective. I recommend it to anyone looking less for “power” than for “reassuring warmth”. Read the story of the workshop.

“Mahogany obsidian is like a hand that gently brings you back to the earth. No drama, just a warm, reassuring presence.”, Camille

Care: a soft cloth is all it takes; avoid salt, knocks and prolonged contact with water, and take it off before showering or exercising. All my tips are in the care guide.

Here are the correspondences traditionally associated with mahogany obsidian in crystal healing: its chakra, its symbolism. These correspondences come from tradition and belief — take them as such, not as scientific fact.

Root chakra

Muladhara — the chakra of grounding, safety and stability.

Mahogany obsidian is said to work this chakra deeply and gently — less of a "jolt" than black obsidian, more earthy comfort.

Star signs

Capricorn — for grounding and perseverance.

Taurus — for stability and connection to the earth.

Virgo — for clarity and practical grounding.

Symbolism

A stone of earthly grounding and inner warmth. Said to be soothing and comforting, ideal for feeling safe in your own body and in the world.

Why "mahogany"?

The name comes from its resemblance to mahogany wood — those natural reddish-brown tones. They come from iron oxides more concentrated in the volcanic glass. Every bead is unique in the depth of its colouring.

A reminder: these correspondences belong to crystal healing, a wellbeing approach rooted in tradition and belief. They are not a medical claim and never replace the advice of a healthcare professional.

Caring for your obsidian

To keep your piece looking its best, a soft cloth is usually all you need. Avoid salt, harsh products and knocks, and take it off before showering, swimming or exercising.

In crystal healing, many people also like to cleanse and charge their stone from time to time, with smoke, under moonlight, or on a quartz cluster.
