Description

Deep black run through with reddish, brown tones, the mahogany obsidian bracelet is made from a more earthy, more rooted stone. Shaped by hand from natural stones, it wears like a small grounding warmth, made for the moments you’re after deep steadiness and comfort.

Mahogany obsidian owes its red and brown tones to a higher concentration of iron oxides in the volcanic glass. That gives it a warmer, more “earthy” look than classic black obsidian. In the light it can reveal subtle golden or reddish reflections, depending on the angle. It’s a less well-known variety than its cousins (black, gold sheen, rainbow), but for people who discover it, it’s often a favourite, something in that colour makes it deeply settling. To get to know this family of stones better, see my complete obsidian guide.
In crystal healing, mahogany obsidian is regarded as the most comforting and rooting of the family. Where black obsidian is said to create a protective barrier, mahogany obsidian settles, it’s described as a stone that warms you from the inside and helps you feel safe in your own body. Linked to the root chakra, it’s associated with deep grounding, and with trust in the earth itself. It’s often suggested to anyone feeling scattered or cut off from the ground, said to bring them gently back to a warm sort of steadiness.
Unisex and settling, this bracelet sits on a woman’s wrist as readily as a man’s. The stretch cord slips on without a clasp and adjusts comfortably to your wrist. Wear it on its own for its comforting quality, or alongside other natural stone bracelets, hematite, tiger eye or red jasper are good companions for grounding. Day to day, it keeps company through moments of re-centring, and invites you back to calm and inner steadiness.

Handmade by Camille

Every bracelet is put together by hand in my studio, in France. I choose the mahogany obsidian beads one at a time, looking for the ones where the reddish tone comes through most, and check every finish, so that the piece arriving at your door really is grounding and settling.
Mahogany obsidian is my favourite variety for the harder days. When I’m wearing one, I simply feel more present, more rooted. It’s less spectacular than the rainbow or the blue sheen, but it’s the one I keep coming back to. I recommend it to people looking less for “power” than for a reassuring warmth. You can read the story of the studio here.

“Mahogany obsidian is like a hand that gently brings you back to the ground. No drama, just a warm, reassuring presence.”, Camille

Care: a soft cloth is all it takes. Avoid salt, knocks and prolonged water, and take it off before showering or exercising. All my tips are in the care guide.

Here are the correspondences traditionally associated with mahogany obsidian in crystal healing: its chakras, its symbolism. These correspondences come from tradition and belief — take them as such, not as scientific fact.

Root chakra

Muladhara — the chakra of grounding, safety and stability.

Mahogany obsidian is said to work this chakra deeply and gently — less of a jolt than black obsidian, more of an earthy comfort.

Star signs

Capricorn — for grounding and perseverance.

Taurus — for stability and connection to the earth.

Virgo — for clarity and practical grounding.

Symbolism

A stone of earthy grounding and inner warmth. Known as settling and comforting, a favourite for feeling safe in your own body and in the world.

Why "mahogany"?

The name comes from how closely it resembles mahogany wood — those natural reddish and brown tones. They come from more concentrated iron oxides in the volcanic glass. Every bead is unique in how strong its tones are.

A reminder: these correspondences come from crystal healing, a wellbeing practice grounded in tradition and belief. They are not health claims — this bracelet treats, cures and prevents nothing — and they never replace the advice of a health professional.

Caring for your obsidian

To keep your piece looking its best, a soft cloth is usually all you need. Avoid salt, harsh products and knocks, and take it off before the shower, the beach, the pool or the gym.

In crystal healing, many people also like to cleanse and charge their stone from time to time, with smoke, under moonlight, or on a quartz cluster.

Handmade jewellery, made in France

Every piece is handcrafted in my studio from natural stones chosen one by one. No mass production: small batches, and plenty of one-of-a-kind pieces.
