Description

Men’s obsidian ring, a stone on the hand, worn as a daily act of grounding. Shaped by hand around a single large natural stone, this is the ring you put on to keep your clarity and your footing where you can see them, and to move through the day without needing to prove anything.

This ring is built around one substantial stone: a black obsidian cabochon measuring 13 × 18 mm, deep and smooth, that fills the top of the hand without ever tipping into showy. That’s the whole idea, real presence, no noise. Obsidian brings the weight and the depth; the pared-back steel band stays out of its way.
Black obsidian is a volcanic glass, formed when silica-rich lava cooled too fast for any crystal to grow. What you get is a black without a floor to it, one of the very few stones that reads as genuinely bottomless rather than merely dark. On the hand, at that size, it becomes a fixed point you keep coming back to over the course of a day. To understand the full richness of this stone, see my complete guide to obsidian or the article on obsidian and protection.
In crystal healing, black obsidian is said to be the stone of grounding, truth and protection. It’s described as a shield and a mirror, something that “sends back what isn’t ours” and helps you see a situation for what it is. Through a period of change, of doubt, or just a run of heavy weeks, it works as a reminder rather than a promise: you’re steady, you can see straight, you’ve got what it takes to keep moving. Never magic, just a small, constant support.
The stainless steel band is adjustable, so it sits comfortably whatever the day asks of your hands. Steel was the right choice here rather than a softer metal: it takes knocks, it doesn’t rust, and it keeps its finish through real use.

Shaped by hand by Camille

Every ring is put together by hand in my workshop, in France. With a stone this size there’s nowhere to hide, so I go through a lot of them, I want an even surface, no chips at the edge, and that particular black that holds the light instead of just swallowing it. Then the steel band goes on precisely, so the finished ring is solid, comfortable and made to be worn.
Men’s rings ask a different question of me: they have to survive being worn properly. This is a piece that goes on in the morning and stays on, through work, through everything. So I look for stones that will take that and still look good in five years. Obsidian does exactly that. Read the story of the workshop.

“A black obsidian ring is there to remind your hand, with every gesture, that you’re steady. Nothing to say about it, just being solid, quietly.”, Camille

Care: a soft cloth is all it takes for both the stone and the steel; stainless steel doesn’t rust and stands up well to everyday knocks. Take the ring off for anything heavy-going, sport, DIY, to make it last. All my tips are in the care guide.

Here are the correspondences traditionally associated with black obsidian in crystal healing — they come from tradition and belief, and are to be taken as such.

Root chakra

Muladhara — the chakra of grounding, safety and stability.

Black obsidian is said to work this chakra deeply — a steady foundation from which energy can move, grounding without compromise.

Worn on the hand

Action and intent — a ring is worn on the hand, visible, in every gesture you make.

It says "I'm grounded, I see straight, I'm here" without needing to say anything.

Star signs

Capricorn — for its natural grounding and its steadiness.

Taurus — for its solidity and its connection to the earth.

Scorpio — for its depth and its quiet strength.

Symbolism

A stone of protection and deep grounding. The black obsidian ring is for anyone who wants to stay clear and steady, and to meet what comes with restraint and quiet strength.

A reminder: these correspondences belong to crystal healing, a wellbeing approach rooted in tradition and belief. They are not a medical claim and never replace the advice of a healthcare professional.

Caring for your obsidian

To keep your piece looking its best, a soft cloth is usually all you need. Avoid salt, harsh products and knocks, and take it off before showering, swimming or exercising.

In crystal healing, many people also like to cleanse and charge their stone from time to time, with smoke, under moonlight, or on a quartz cluster.

Handmade jewellery, made in France

Every piece is handcrafted in my workshop from natural stones chosen one by one. No mass production: small batches, and plenty of one-of-a-kind pieces.
