Description
Raw black obsidian necklace, the stone left exactly as it came out of the volcanic rock, uncut and unpolished, wire-wrapped by hand. No two pieces share the same shape. Worn against the skin, it keeps all the natural sharpness of the conchoidal fracture that gives obsidian its characteristic glass-like break. The choice of those who want the stone itself, not a version of it.
Obsidian is a volcanic glass, formed when lava cools too quickly for crystals to grow. It breaks with a conchoidal fracture, a smooth, curved break with naturally sharp edges, the same property that made it the sharpest cutting tool in the prehistoric world, before metal. In raw form, that fracture is still visible: the stone keeps its glassy surface, its irregular edges, its weight in the hand.
Wire-wrapping is the technique used here: the stone is held in a hand-formed metal setting, wound around it to secure it without drilling or cutting it. The stone is never altered, only held.
In crystal healing, raw obsidian is credited with the same grounding and protective properties as its polished counterpart, with an added sense of rawness, a connection to the stone in its most unmediated form. To read everything about this stone, explore the complete obsidian guide.

Handcrafted by Camille
Every stone is selected and wire-wrapped by hand in my workshop, in France. Raw obsidian is how this stone comes out of the earth, before any cutting, any polishing, any shaping. I choose each piece for the quality of its natural fracture: the edges must be clean, the surface glassy, the stone between 25 and 40 mm.
It is the piece I make for those who want the stone as it is, not the stone as we have decided it should be. See my other obsidian necklaces, or discover the workshop.
“I could shape every stone to make it perfect. But this one I prefer to leave as the earth made it.”, Camille
Care: a soft cloth is all it takes; avoid salt, strong knocks and prolonged water, and remove before showering or exercising. Note that raw edges are more sensitive to impacts than a polished stone, handle with care. All care tips in the cleaning guide.
