Description
Two bracelets sold together, hand-braided on a sliding knot. The black one carries a rainbow obsidian, the red one a red agate. They are not identical, and that is not an oversight.
The rainbow obsidian on the black bracelet is the hardest variety in the catalogue to photograph. Its green and violet reflections come from magnetite inclusions in very thin layers, which break up light like a film of oil on water. Head on and under a cold lamp the stone looks black; tilted in the sun, it opens. The obsidian varieties cover that mechanism.
The mounting is a cord braided tight around a sliding knot, not an elastic strand of beads. The size adjusts from fifteen to twenty-two centimetres, which covers almost every wrist and lets you give the pair without knowing the other person’s size. That is the whole point of this format. The reservation is the red cord. The dye of a braided thread fades with light and rubbing, faster than that of a black thread, and the bright red of the first month will be a brick red after two years of daily wear. The black one does not move. If the two bracelets are to stay matched over time, that is worth knowing before buying.
Crystal lore ties obsidian to grounding and red agate to drive. None of that is proven, and no piece of jewellery heals anything. I have gathered separately what tradition attributes to obsidian, in the conditional from start to finish.

Why they are not identical
A mismatched pair sells less easily than two identical ones, and I still make it this way. The reason is practical: two rigorously alike bracelets get mixed up within three days in a bathroom, and nobody knows which is whose any more. Two cord colours settle that without adding anything. It is also why I braid the red one slightly tighter: in use it stretches a little less.

Obsidian does not mind water, but braided cord takes a long time to dry and the red dye fades faster when wet. Take the bracelets off before the shower and the pool. A soft cloth is enough, never an ultrasonic bath. Cleaning an obsidian piece covers the rest.
